Harry Potter and deathly Hallows part 2: My review

A decade flown by

As years passed by we lived  with Richard Bach’s words “Don’t be dismayed at goodbyes.  A farewell is necessary before you can meet again”.  Thus, it was never hard when each year at Hogwarts passed by and we had long vacation without presence of the words “ Quidditch” and “He who cant be named”. But this summer vacation the goodbye seemed hardest. On 15th July when harry Potter came on screen again for last time, it felt like  a major part of our lives is about to end and never return. And man it hurts to say goodbye for ever, may it be Last episode of “Brothers and Sisters,.”, or a tenure of Labour government, even though they sucked in last few years or when Star Wars ends. It feels like end of era, and with Harry Potter it truly was an era, from 1998 when a book with some funny characters was published followed by 2001 when its adaptation hit our movie screens, every year we have grown to like the story as we age. Hence,  words “The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected” by Nicholas Saprks in Notebook feel so right while entering the hall. There is whiff of nostalgia, air charged and emotional aura as the trailers ends and movie begins. Read or Unread audience await for this instalment to see how Harry Potter redeems from its bad reviews of past movie, which I may say were unfair and unjust. The movie  is a closing chapter to the series which sees Harry Potter wage a victory over the killers of his parents.

Movie begins where last movie ended, and than on your screen appears darkest and most action packed adventure of series. For it was part when Harry and gang must find all horcruxes and destroy lord Voldermort. Next  130 mins you are presented with series of magical wars in locations of Gringotts, Hogwarts and Dark Forest. As there are memories from past you are taken back to day it all started, when Voldermort tried to kill Harry and it backfired. The first horcrux hunt occurs in Gringotts bank followed by Hogwarts and so and so forth. The movie doesn’t fall short of adrenaline pumped action or tear filled moments, Dumbeldore returns in dreams of course. Snape dies and you feel sorry for him when his story is revealed. Movie is like a roller coster ride with lots of highs and few drops. Overall when piece comes together its aesthetic and fine pace, and a very subtle part to bid series farewell forever. But, for those who read book, disappointment is natural as for limitation screen has captured. The destruction of Hogwarts is hard to watch , and its even harder to breathe when some of our favourite characters die in this imaginary world. But at climax triumph is sorted, good wins against evil and all is well. You also get glimpse of main 3 characters future, which  is hilarious and lighter note to say ,“Bye.”

Although movie has lots to offer, in fact most than rest of movies in series, it still lacks something. Then you realise its missing the characters you seemed to like, all of us had picked our favourites and for those who picked Harry they were in treat. As this movie was all about Harry Potter, his past, present and future, as it was meant to be in books. But during years you cant help but grow fond of 3 central characters and chemistry between them, which I felt was totally missing. The kiss between Ron and Hermoine had been coming since long but moment felt so wrong and it didnt feel kiss it was rather a chore/reward after completing chore. Kuna Lovegood whose weirdness came since Harry Potter 5, was very mildly portrayed and so was Mcgonagall. Voldermort was empowering and quite frightening as well. Bellatrix Lastrange even in her 10 minute role outshone all the cast. Daniel Radcliffe as actor in this movie was just above average, Emma Watson who has been my favourite in series had a miniscule role which she did full justice to. Rupert Grint manages to makes us laugh, so does Jim braodbent in his 2 minute role. Ralph Fieness is his finest and so are other members of crew. Helena Bonham Carter as said earlier is screen snatcher when she appears. David Yates has done a wonderful work in bringing to life the last 3 books and J.K.Rowling would have no complaints. Although I fail to understand why the movie was made in 3d as there were no outstanding 3d scenes. Infact movie would have been much appreciated and received without those hideous glasses to watch through. The action and technical aspects were brilliant except 3d which was rubbish. The camera work was excellent and so was make up and costumes except part when they show 30 yr old Harry and Ron.

It was closure to series which everyone had wanted not wished though. Tears cant be ruled out when it al finally ends as seen harry from start struggling to survive at his aunts, trying to gel in at Hogwarts and dealing with his puberty. The 7 books and 8 movies have been a major bookmark in peoples lives who ere connected to it. J.K.Rowling started a phenomenon which she wasnt aware herself of and David Yates ended it in a formidable way.  To sum the experience of movie and series I use the quote by Flavia Weedn “Some people come into our lives and quickly go.  Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same..”Essay
